This sacrament, Anointing of the Sick, is administered by the priest. The one who is sick is anointed on the forehead and hands with the "Oil of the infirm", which was blessed by the Archbishop. Through this sacrament, those who are sick are commended to the suffering and glorified Lord, that he may save them and raise them up. This sacrament may be accompanied by the sacrament of Reconciliation and receiving Holy Communion if the person who is sick is able. The Anointing of the Sick is not a sacrament for those only who are at the point of death. Hence as soon as anyone of the faithful begins to be severely affected by illness or old age, it is appropriate to receive this sacrament. Please call the Pastoral Office if you or you know someone who needs the sacrament of Anointing of the Sick. If there is an immediate need for the sacrament, the hospital will contact the priest directly.
